Expertise that is driving methanization forward internationally
Country-specific projects
Canada
Following the launch of the Quebec program, which set the purchase price of biomethane for 25 years, in 2020 VIRIDIS and KEON decided to join forces. The benefits of their collaboration are clear. While VERIDIS manages the collection of digester residues to create fertiliser, KEON is an expert developer of biomethane projects.
KERIDIS is currently working on five different projects.
Italy
The biogas industry is well-established in Italy, with more than 2,000 production facilities (primarily cogeneration plants) in the North of the country. The new tariff support scheme for the development of the biomethane industry came into effect at the beginning of 2023 and enabled KEON to assist plants in their conversion by drawing on its expertise in areas including injection technology.
Germany
Germany is Europe’s leading biogas producer, with more than 10,000 facilities in operation, the majority of which produce green electricity and heating. Since 2020, Germany has shifted its biogas industry towards the biomethane production to decarbonize transport in line with the EU renewable energy directive (RED II). KEON hopes to support greenfield projects in late-stage development by providing expert advice on the development of agricultural projects and contributing to projects’ equity needs.
Guyana
We are currently taking part in a programme to develop a liquefied biomethane production plant, which will be used to produce alternative fuel sources for space launch systems. This project is being led by the CNES (the French government’s space agency) and will contribute to the decarbonization of the space industry. It also provides organic waste recycling facilities for the country of Guyana.
Spain
A Spanish agricultural biomethane market is gradually emerging, with the country developing its biomethane industry. The KEON group is providing expert advice to support the development of skills and projects.
Japan
NASKEO Kankyo, the KEON group’s Japanese construction and engineering subsidiary, was founded in 2019. Its offices are located in the city of Sapporo on the island of Hokkaido, Japan’s most agriculture-intensive region. In Japan, NASKEO Kankyo is the only importer and supplier of small-scale biomethane production technology designed and manufactured by the company Biolectric.
TSURUI MURA is a 500-kW agricultural biogas plant, designed and built in east Hokkaido in 2018-2019 by NASKEO.
